The State of the State: A Look at Illinois' Government and Political Future
Time and Date:
Wed, Oct 30, 2013
07:30 AM - 09:00 AM
Union League Club of Chicago
65 W. Jackson Blvd

Chicago, IL  60604  Map It

This event will look at the major issues facing Illinois’ politicians and what they mean for citizens and businesses alike heading into the 2014 legislative and election year including Pension Reform, Income Tax (Extend v. Expire and Progressive v. Flat), Government Transparency, and the 2014 Elections.

Uncertainty is no longer a buzz word to describe the inability of Illinois’ political leaders to deal with the state’s most pressing issues such as public employee pension reform. Uncertainty is a way of life for the state’s citizens and businesses. The programs is intended to shed some light on why there is so much dysfunction in Springfield, if a solution can found on the pension crisis, what it may mean for the coming debate on income taxes, and wrap it all together by predicting how these challenges will shape the 2014 gubernatorial election.
