Something quite unique occurred on Tuesday, September 20, 2011. In a beautifully appointed, private room at the Union League Club, 23 individuals, including David Miller, Former Mayor of the City of Toronto, and Eloisa Klementich, Special Assistant for Regional Development, Economic Development Administration, gathered for dinner and a discussion, hosted by the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce Foundation.
In our long and rich history, the Chamber has hosted hundreds of these kinds of events in private clubs and restaurants across our great city. Convening groups for discussions on important topics is one of our trademark specialties. It is what we have done for over 100 years, but there was something very different about this particular dinner event.
Representatives from Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Gary, Indiana; and Chicago convened for a single purpose--to begin a conversation about how the Tri-State region can work together to boost the performance of “our” regional economy on a global scale.
