September is National Recovery Month
Thank you to all who are joining in the voices for recovery during September’s National Recovery Month. Recovery Month spreads the positive message that behavioral health is essential to overall health, that substance abuse prevention works, addiction treatment is effective and people can and do recover.
A Safe Haven Foundation will honor business leaders, academic leaders and more for their extraordinary work on behalf of those in Recovery. The Chicago Champions for Recovery Event will be held at the Union League Club on September 20th and A Safe Haven will also be hosting a second NYC Champions for Recovery Event on September 26th. Click on The Chicago Champions for Recovery for lunch information and reservations.
The Chamber’s recovery message encourages company cultures to move beyond drug or alcohol stigmas. This can start by recognizing addictions like other chronic diseases. Like any other disease, addiction is a health problem requiring prevention, treatment and ongoing care.
The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce celebrates 21 years since adding alcohol and drug abuse prevention to its leadership in positive business environments and healthier lifestyles for employers and employees, 1990 – 2011. Today, behavioral health, employee assistance and workplace wellness providers are integrating the delivery of their services. Funding is provided in part by the Illinois Department of Human Services.
