Business community recognizes Chamber accomplishments from the past year and looks to the future at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting
It has been an extraordinary year at the Chamber, full of tough challenges, key accomplishments, and exciting events. The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting was an opportunity for the region's business community to unite, celebrate these accomplishments, and address how we will tackle these challenges in the future to make Chicagoland the best place to grow and run a business in the country. For a detailed look at the past year, download the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce 2012 Annual Report.
Chicago - While the presenters are all prominent business and civic leaders in the Chicagoland region, each speaker at last week's Annual Meeting had another important common element: a commitment to making Chicago the best place to grow and run a business.

As Chamber Chairman and as a respected Chicago business leader, James Tyree demonstrated a wide array of values, including integrity, philanthropy, humor, humility, generosity, and embracing a role as a fierce advocate for Chicago.
Matt Matros, founder of Protein Bar, has embodied these values while leading his company to rapid growth and promoting a healthy lifestyle in the process. This culminated in him winning the inaugural James Tyree Emerging Business Leadership Award on Tuesday, June 5 at the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting at the Hyatt Regency Chicago.

It’s hard to imagine my tenure as Chairman of the Chamber Board of Directors has come to an end. As I prepare to transition from my role, I am truly confident in the ongoing success of the Chamber and the economic growth of the Chicagoland region. I cannot express enough how proud and honored I am to have served the Chamber and the Chicagoland business community in this role.
It seems like yesterday that I was accepting the gavel from the late, outgoing Chair, Jim Tyree. I can only hope I approached the Chairmanship with as much valor, commitment and energy as Jim. It was his leadership and legacy of excellence that allowed the Chamber so much success.
