Business Community to Celebrate Annual Accomplishments, Look to the Future at 108th Annual Meeting

A business’s ability to stay ahead of the curve has proven time and time again to be the central cause of its success (or failure). No one understands the importance of forward-thinking more than Walgreen Co. President and CEO Gregory Wasson, who has helped transform Walgreens into one of the most innovative and recognized brands in the U.S.

At the 108th Annual Meeting, business leaders will examine how drive and innovation have sustained companies like Walgreens and the other legacy companies that call Chicago home. As this year’s keynote, Wasson will head a list of impressive business and civic leaders at the Hyatt Regency Chicago on June 5.

City's Economic Growth Plan Highlighted at Chamber Board Meeting

Michael Sacks, CEO of Grosvenor Capital Management and Vice-Chair of World Business Chicago, joined the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce on Thursday at Spencer Stuart as the featured presenter for the Board of Directors meeting.

When Mayor Emanuel tapped Sacks as Vice-Chair of World Business Chicago shortly after taking office, the city had no clear economic development plan. Emanuel quickly tasked Sacks with helping him create a long-term plan for economic growth and job creation.

Mayor's Infrastructure Trust Key to Economic Success and Job Creation

Recently, the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce sent a letter to the members of the Chicago City Council urging them to support Chicago Infrastructure Trust ordinance. On April 24, Aldermen voted 41-7 to approve the plan, which Mayor Emanuel will use to fund hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of city projects.

The Chicagoland Chamber has been a strong advocate for the Mayor’s proposal as a means to spur economic development and improve the city’s infrastructure.
