Connect with Chicagoland’s Top Companies at The Exchange
Each year, our members showcase Chicagoland's newest products and services in a tradeshow setting at one of the Chamber’s most popular events: The Exchange. The event, which nearly 1,000 people attended last year, provides endless networking opportunities to both attendees and exhibitors and is a great opportunity to generate leads and develop relationships with some of Chicagoland’s premiere companies.
Exhibitors will receive the benefit of increased visibility and access to Chicagoland’s extensive professional network as well as the chance to showcase their company to the nearly 1,000 attendees. As a Chamber member, you are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity!

In addition, we encourage you to register now to attend our Entrepreneur Series discussion with the 2012 James Tyree Emerging Business Leadership Award Winner, Matt Matros of Protein Bar, prior to The Exchange. Matros was recently interviewed by Chamber member Amptopia and discussed the success and continued growth of Protein Bar.
Jerry Roper
President & CEO
The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce is surprised by the Governor’s call to increase the state’s minimum wage to $10 over the next four years while Illinois’ business environment is already so hostile to the creation of jobs, corporate relocations, and plant expansion.
“Illinois is already a leader in mandating one of the highest minimum wages in the nation,” said Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Jerry Roper. “Illinois’ economy is still not strong enough to absorb the costs associated with increasing the minimum wage. Too many businesses are struggling to make payroll. This plan has the unintended consequence of forcing businesses to cut jobs instead of investing in growing business and hiring more workers.”
On Thursday, January 31, the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce released its 2012 Public Policy Legislative Report during its Board of Directors Meeting at 1871 Chicago.
The 2012 Public Policy Legislative Report includes a summary of Chamber activities and results as measured against priorities established in the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce 2012 Legislative Agenda.
The report addresses the Chamber's strong push for public employee pension reform, development of a Chicago casino, a phase-out of the Chicago head tax, elimination of the 1 percent Cook County sales tax, our work with the City of Chicago, State of Illinois and Cook County, and our 2012 Legislative Agenda with Outcomes.
Chicagoland Entrepreneurs: What's Something You Wish You Knew Starting Out?
NBC Chicago is looking for submissions for a new ongoing video series called "Ask An Owner" on the NBC Chicago entrepreneur blog. It is a quick clip of an entrepreneur explaining in one minute one thing they wish they knew when they were starting out running their own business for the first time.

NBC Chicago is looking to feature businesses that are in the Chicagoland area, including the suburbs and Northwest Indiana. If your Chicagoland company is interested, please email David Wolinsky at with a quick explanation of who you are, what your business does, and what the lesson is.
Good luck!
