SBDC | FAQ's

What does the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at the Chicagoland Chamber do? FAQ's

The SBDC at the Chicagoland Chamber offers free consulting to small businesses to help them grow. We have the backing of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, but we are not a membership or fee-based group. By offering access to mentors, capital, business plan iteration, marketing plan iteration, or custom support (and much more), we help companies grow and eventually create jobs to boost the economy here in Chicagoland.

How can this be offered for free?

We are funded by a grant that allows us to dedicate consulting hours to work hands on with business. When we help companys grow we hit our goals as an SBDC.

How does my company get access to the support?

Head to the Small Business page on the Chicagoland Chamber website and you can fill out a quick form. Fill out the form to get started and we will reach out to set up a quick discovery meeting. Some companies know exactly where they need support and others need to take some time to figure out where to start. Regardless if you are a start-up or a 10+ year old company we can offer the basics, or trouble shoot niche issues with our mentors and supporters. We have access to many experienced professionals and entrepreneurs in any industry or sector you might need help in.

Why are you located at the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce?

I’m not sure there is a better place to get access to mentors, a large network of local companies, and support than a group like the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce. The Chicagoland Chamber is a pro-business organization with 2000+ companies and 100+ years of experience, so the goals are aligned and it comes in handy when you are growing companies. Most SBDC's are located at Colleges or Universities but we feel our access to the market and resources are greater here at the CCC.

Do I need to be a member of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce?

No... You should check it out though. They have a small business membership designed specifically to help small businesses to generate new customers, create exposure to the local market and save money. See the details here.

How do I become a Mentor?

We are always looking for support. Please fill out this form and tell us about your experience and expertise. We will reach out and get you connected.
