Southwest is the United States' most successful low-fare, high frequency, point-to-point carrier. Southwest operates more than 3,200 flights a day coast-to-coast.
It should go without saying that corporations want and need to make money. Profits provide job security for Employees, growth for current and new Customers, and returns for investors. Southwest Airlines needs to make a profit so that our Employees can prosper, and so you can have frequent flights at low fares.
However, I'm firmly convinced that there is a right way to be profitable, and it involves good citizenship on the part of a Company and its Employees. In fact, I'll go one step further and say that true, sustained, year-over-year profits are only attainable if a Company is a good citizen.
