From the President’s Desk: Size + Agility
The Chicagoland Chamber’s work to partner with member businesses and shape our community for the better is derived from two places. One is strength-in-numbers. We’re made up of more than 1,100 member organizations that employ more than 400,000 people and bring more than $24 billion into the local economy each year. The other is our diversity of membership. Our member directory shows small businesses, mid-market businesses, start-ups, Fortune 100 companies and non-profits from every sector of the economy.
But it’s not only about size. Our business community is as strong as we are because we have both quantity and quality. The effect of this combination is twofold. We have a seat at the table. Our members have a clear and respected voice that actually gets heard by decision-makers who determine the climate for business investment and job creation. More strategically in terms of our members’ operations and business development, we have a fertile network in which to make targeted connections with players who have similar needs, or might need something you can provide.
Our industry and sector groups, depending on the specific case, are called Forums and Councils. They are peer-to-peer, collaborative, small group settings in which members with similar interests focus on custom-tailored initiatives to boost their individual businesses. Examples of this include:
You can view all of our Forums here and all our Public Policy Councils here. Please reach out to us about how your business can get involved.
The notion of having both quantity and quality can be put another way: by working together, members of the Chicagoland Chamber cut an enviable profile. We are large, strong and nimble.
