Overview

Apprenticeships combine formal learning with on-the-job training experiences and help companies fill in-demand roles by hiring motivated, high-potential individuals from non-traditional sources. The Chamber’s Apprenticeship Program seeks to replicate the success of the Chicago Apprentice Network by providing IT and other “white collar” apprenticeships to City Colleges of Chicago students.

  • One-year pilot program beginning in January 2020
  • One-to-one matching funds for participating employers to cover half of the cost of an apprentice
  • Tracks include: IT/Tech, Accounting, Architecture, Manufacturing (industrial maintenance and CNC operator)

Benefit to the Participating Employer

Through a grant from DCEO, the Chicagoland Chamber will provide one-to-one matching funds to participating employers to cover half of the salary cost per apprentice for one year, and in return, City Colleges will provide these student-apprentices with the relevant programming and curriculum so they can “earn and learn.”
