On Tuesday, June 25 the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce’s Emerging Leaders program hosted their much-anticipated Equality on Tap event, an inspiring celebration of LGBTQ+ Pride Month. As part of the Chicagoland Chamber’s UNITY program, the event brought together a diverse group of attendees for a night filled with celebration, learning, and community.

Equality on Tap was a testament to the power of unity and inclusion, featuring remarks from esteemed guest speakers Alderman Bennett Lawson of the 44th ward and Alderman Timmy Knudsen of the 43rd ward. Each of them shared personal anecdotes as well as offered insights on fostering inclusivity and supporting the LGBTQIA+ community, both of which helped emphasize the importance of inclusion and solidarity in our vibrant city.

The evening was moderated by Matthew Serafin, whose guidance ensured a seamless and engaging flow of discussion. Adding to the evening’s festivities was a special appearance by the fabulous drag queen Veronica Pop, who brought an extra touch of glamour and joy to the event. Attendees were not only treated to a night of entertainment, but also an opportunity to connect with various organizations dedicated to supporting and uplifting the LGBTQIA+ community, one of which being the dessert caterer for the evening, Chicago Sugar Daddy Patisserie.

The values of inclusion and progress championed by the Chamber’s Emerging Leaders program shone brightly through the event. Designed for young professionals, the group focuses on building relationships, cultivating skills, and creating an inclusive community of future leaders. Equality on Tap was a perfect embodiment of these pillars, offering attendees a chance to build authentic connections, enhance their skills, and celebrate the richness of our diverse community.

The evening was more than just a celebration; it was a powerful reminder of the strength found in unity and the importance of fostering understanding and appreciation for all members of our business community. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended and contributed to making Equality on Tap a resounding success. Together, we continue to build a future rooted in equality, inclusion, and pride.
